Teachers use Microsoft PowerPoint to create various types of presentations, and one type of presentation is a teacher-centered lecture. A teacher creates the PowerPoint before class to prepare and to guide the lesson. In the notes section of the PowerPoint, the teacher includes the "script" for the lecture or reminders for him or herself. The slides of the PowerPoint present a large topic in short phrases. The teacher builds upon the short phrases in the discussion to help the students understand the large topic of the slide. At the end of the presentation, a teacher includes the citations for any pictures or information to demonstrate credibility to his or her students. Teachers use teacher-centered PowerPoints to present new material to a classroom. My example of a teacher-centered PowerPoint is appropriate for a second grade classroom.
